Want to get Canadian Citizenship fast?......here's how.

Ok, so this blog post certainly will not apply to everyone. To be able to do this you need to have a parent who was born in Canada. For the sake of this post lets just say that you do, so why do you want citizenship to another country eh? Well for starters things like criminal records and credit don't generally follow you across borders if you fall into this category, if you were immigrating then a criminal history would, but since Canada doesn't really bother with that if you have a parent who was born in Canada you don't need to worry about it. So, in theory, you could fuck up your record and credit in your home country, as well as default on things like student loans, move and start over. Sounds like a good thing to have just in case shit takes a turn for the worse. Plus there is the whole national health care thing that Canada has, which is a pretty fucking good idea, oh and the whole more rights, less people in jail, shit like that.

So since you have a Canadian parent you are by default a Canadian citizen, provided they didn't renounce their citizenship or anything stupid like that. So go here http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/citizenship/proof.asp fill out the application and go to a professional photographer to get these 2 photos done, they are different from passport photos so no you can't do it at costco. Fill the form out carefully and don't make any mistakes, sign it correctly and get your supporting documents. For me I used an original birth certificate from me and my father, you can get these from Canada, just do a google search if you dont have a birth certificate from your Canadian parent. I also sent in my college ID and drivers license for supporting documents, you can use certified copies, but then they are gonna check and it will slow things down, and if you are like me (a demanding child) you pretty much want everything done the second you have the though.

So, everything is in order and you are gonna send it in, wait, don't send it in yet. The processing time for these is over 10 months, which is far to long. But yes, there is a loophole. Ok so to get your paperwork expedited you need to have a reason, and they give you examples of what is acceptable on their website. Sooooo, lie they aren't gonna check to see if your reason is valid they process thousands of these things. I used the "I need access to health care because i am relocating." I actually am relocating so it wasn't a lie, but that really makes no difference. I just wrote a short paragraph letter and stuffed it in with my packet and wrote on the envelope "Urgent need for Citizenship proof" in a giant red sharpie and sent it in.

So does it work? Yep, I had mine sent to me in 3 weeks, fuck that whole waiting for 10 months bullshit.
